IMPACT! - End of an Era.

Dear Friends,

The end is near. I write this from the frontlines of battle. The Imperial army has began an assault and the Alliance was there to meet them. Various Imperial soldiers and magitek warmachines swarm all around us. Meanwhile, the burning moon of Dalamud continues to descend. I fear there is no stopping it. Impact imminent....

The End Is Near!

Dear Friends,

It is now in the darkest of hours that we know without doubt that the blessings of the Twelve are with us. All throughout the land, adventurers are waking to find divine gifts waiting next to us in the morning. Legendary weapons of great power have been sent to us by the gods.

Even now, as the voidsent beasts breach our city walls- our faith has not wavered. As Dalamud's impact grows closer by the day, The Eorzean Alliance is planning a final assault against the growing Garlaen army.

I have decided to attend this battle. If I do not survive whatever terrible event occurs, please know that I fought against evil with you, my friends, in my heart.

Dark Horizons

Dear Friends,

The darkness has enshrouded us. As Dalamud hangs closer than ever, Atomos has seized even more Aetheryte camps. Now the voidspawn have began attacking our cities. Beasts unlike any imaginable have been repelled in recent days. Many of us have taken on the duty of fortifying positions outside the city gates in attempt to defend against them.

Sadly, Our efforts seem to be weak at best. On several occasions the monsters have actually breached the gates and made their way into the street before being driven back. Rest assured, we are doing all that we can.

The End of Days

Dear Friends,

It is now apparent to all, that we have been unable to ward off the magic known as Meteor. When it shall strike, and what it will mean to our world when it does, remains a mystery.

So many strange things occurring in these perilous days. The VIIth Legion continues their non-stop assaults. Many Garlean soldiers have fallen to my lance in recent days. All the while, I wear the uniform of my company proudly.

Strange monsters have been spotted close to our towns, beasts that, until recently, used to hide in the remote regions. In fact, just the other day I came across a wandering Sabotender just outside of Gridania proper.

I will not feign courage. I am scared. Friends, I hope this letter finds you well, and I hope that you are safe. Know that in all of my spare moments, I am praying at the shrines of the Twelve. Praying for our salvation.

Foundation Day Returneth!

Dear Friends,

Today the Grand Companies have once again decreed the newly annual Foundation Day! This year, it has been launched alongside our attack of Atomos.I am proud to proclaim that our attacks seem to have some success. We have managed to push back the mysterious beast several times. Each time, it has left fragments of unearthly voidstone in it's wake. Fortunately for us, this over-aspected mineral proves to be extremely valuable. The Grand Companies have placed a huge reward for the collection of these clusters. For my contribution, I have been raised to the rank of Chief Serpent Sergeant!

Collection outposts have been erected in all three city-states. The ether trapped within these crystals will undoubtedly prove valuable in our fight against both the Garleans and these new extra-dimensional invasions. My, what terrible perilous times we live in! Sometimes, it feel so helpless to combat the doom before us, but yet, I must fight on!

Escalation!

Dear Friends,

Things here continue to escalate at a rapid pace. The moon of Dalamud now hangs so large, that it's glow can be seen in either day or night. You can feel it's heat and it doesn't seem to be slowing. As it draws closer, the attacks from the strange mawed creature known as Atomos have seemed to quicken. It is moving onward to camps closer to home, leaving the crystals in some of the out camps nearly drained of all their ether. Those crystals glow no more.

Several of us, are planning to do something bold. Instead of defending the camps from the strange beasts that spew from Atomos's maw, we are going to attempt to attack the fiend itself. Wish us luck... On another note, the land invasions from the Empire have began again. However, this time they seem concerned with raiding the strongholds of the beastmen. What could they be up to now, I wonder.

Hints of the Mawed Monster

Dear Friends,

In today's issue of the Mythril Eye, there was an interesting peice on the strange goings-ons near the outer Aetheryte camps. I've enclosed a copy for you.

The Mysterious Maw

Dear Friends,

Something strange is afoot! Reports of strange twisted looking creatures attacking aetheryte camps have been rising in recent weeks. I decided to go investigate for myself and at first after finding nothing too unusual I came across one of the monsters that are being whispered about. How can I describe it... it's a floating giant disgusting.... mouth!

It appeared out of nowhere and seemed to be sucking the very ether from the crystal and ground beneath it! Then, it spewed forth a legion of terrible monsters unlike any I've seen before. Several of us at the camp joined forces and slew several of the creatures, but before we could turn our sights on the maw-beast, it vanished just as quickly as it appeared. Several over-aspected crystal were found on the bodies of the strange beasts, so I collected one for further analysis. Never before have such creatures been seen in Eorzea. Is this more the Empire's doing or something stranger and more sinister?

Friends, I hope all is quiet where you are. May you never have to see such horrors.

Injustice!!

Dear Friends,

What is going on with this world!? Do you remember when I told you about the wandering minstrel that taught me how to tame Gobbues? Well it seems that would friend was arrested! Yes! He was charged with spreading civil unrest due to his willingness to speak of the Umbral Era prophecy! How absurd! I stopped by coral rock to visit him, and sure enough! It is true!

What perilous times we live in where one can not even speak his mind without fear of imprisonment. Such a shame!

Skirmish!

Dear Friends,

Today I participated in the new Skirmish training being held on the islands south of Limsa Lominsa. My team and I were given a specified period of time to hunt and slay a variety of capture beasts. I am proud to say not only were we successfully, but we were victorious on several runs. As a reward, I garnered a Giantsgall Trident! A very nice spear indeed!

Return of the Twelve?

Dear Friends,

The verdict is in. Meteor comes. Comets and falling debris streak the skies above us. Strange sounds echo through the whispers of the wind, unusual auroras can be seen in the glow of the moon light. Somehow, even with the fall of the White Raven himself, Dalamud moves closer still. Today, I was called before Louisoux and this terrible truth was confirmed. Yet, there is a plan.

Remember all that strange talk some time ago about us common folk having the ability to "summon our own primals"? Well, it seems that was in reference to the Twelve gods of Eorzea. Such desperate times are these that I have been dispatched to visit the long forgotten holy shrines of the Twelve gods and pray for a miracle. Sounds almost ridiculous, does it not? Well friends, what if I told you that while undertaking this errand, I felt something... I swear I did. Each time I knelt my head in prayer I could actually feel the power of the gods shining over me. Could it be? Will the Twelve awaken at our request?

During this pilgrimage, I had quite a chilling encounter. Keeping my faith strong, I knelt in prayer next to one of the stones only to be encountered by the Legatus van Baelsar. He seemed genuinely impressed with the defeat of Darnus. But he warned that despite our victory, Darnus' followers in the Imperial VII'th legion remain committed to their fallen leader's legacy. He warned that a full-scale invasion was still planned and I would do well to inform my superiors to prepare for an all out war. When I questioned him, why he would divulge such information, and why he offered us previous intelligence on Darnus and his plans, he explained that it is his destiny to one day rule of Eorzea and it was not his desire to rule over a land scorched and worthless by the bands of a madman (referring to van Darnus). How nefarious! This fiend is no better! He's only offering us this intelligence so that HE will later have a prize to conquer in the name of the Empire.

As soon as he appeared, he vanished mysteriously. Yet his voice continued to taunt me from an airship high overhead. What manner of technical sorcery is this?!? I beseech the Twelve to answer our prayers. We will need their divine power to overcome the technical monstrosities the Garlean Empire is sure to unleash upon us.

Despite this grim outlook. I have faith. I am not alone. Many adventurers have undertaken the pilgrimage of prayer. Those of us who have been faithful and who have served the Eorzean Alliance have been official recognized. The number of heroes who can claim this this honor grows a bit larger with the passing of every day.  He was been rewarded with a symbol of our deed, a decorative horn at which in the center is mounted a glowing bit of stone from the fallen meteors. This Horn of Dalamud serves as a badge of honor as we prepare to step into the uncharted future, ready to do battles with the gods at our sides.

The Battle Continues

Dear Friends,

It seems that despite our victory against Legatus Nael van Darnus, the Empire continues to prepare for war. Imperial airships have been spotted in the skies all over Eorzea, flying lower than ever. I personally have even seen them buzzing the skyline of Ul'dah.

I must admit, I am confused. The moon of Dalamud continues to grow larger at a rapid pace. We were certain that the defeat of Darnus was to put an end to this nonsense. It appears perhaps this is not the case.

The prophecy of Urianger is now on every one's lips. Even that quirky detective is "on the case" trying to discern it's meeting. Well... perhaps I should say he was on the case. It seems that he somehow got it in his head that HE was actually the great hero we were waiting for, and due to a series of rather unfortunate, but comical events, managed to set off an explosion that rocketed him to the skies above- presumably into the heart of Dalamud itself. So, that being said, if he survived the trip I hope he puts those detective skills to use.

Fall of the Raven

Dear Friends,

It is a joy to write these words. For the Raven has fallen by my lance. Indeed, Imperial Legatus Nael van Darnus has been defeated! Let me tell you this glorious tale!

I was summoned before the Eorzean Alliance. Intelligence reports had spotted Darnus in Cortheas near some ancient Allagan ruins. This could only mean one thing, he is proceeding with his plans to continue the descent of Dalamud. By whatever foul magiks he intended to accomplish this, we did not know. I was sent to confirm the reports and engage him.

When I arrived, I indeed located him. But what I found defies all explanation.Standing in the middle of the ruins was Darnus. His body was enveloped in light. A single ray of which extended to the heavens all the way to the deadly moon. Like the tractor beam the Empire had constructed, Darnus himself was now guiding Meteor to our world. As I watched, the moon drew ever closer. Fiery rocks broke free and came crashing down to the world below. It had begun! Next, I beheld and amazing sight. The very ground beneath Darnus tore free of the world and ascended into the sky. He had escaped.

Immediately, I returned to Gridania to report. The news was accepted gravely. I feared that all may be lost. However, Cid devised a brilliant plan. We would take his own personal airship The Enterprise (which is built to fly higher than  any other airship in all of the world), to the floating ruins of Rivenroad where we would put an end to the Legatus once and for all.

The battle was perilous indeed. Darnus was formidable opponent. His skills as a Lancer were unlike any I've ever seen, they surpassed even my own. At one point, we thought him defeated. Only to have him rise again, his body surging with dark energy.

Dalamud hung ever closer, fiery meteors plunged to battlefield at Darnus' command. Finally, he vanished. Confused, we spotted him high atop the floating staircase. Entranced and summoning a terrible spell, we continued to attack until finally the long lost magic known as Megaflare we unleashed upon us. It's effects were devastating. Barely clinging to consciousness, I pursued the Legatus back down to battlefield where, with the help of my companions, I landed the killing blow.

As he fell, his body dissipated into an etheric dust which blew away on the wind. With his defeat, his magic began to fail and the ground beneath us began to break apart and plummet back to the world below.

It was at that moment that Cid arrived with the Enterprise and flew us home to our rescue.

Once back in Gridania, we were hailed as heroes. Cid took me aside and thanked me personally. He said that if we had failed, Louisoux has mentioned a cryptic "last resort" that he and the other Archons had at their disposal... The Twelve only know what that might have been...

As the fanfare died, I retired to my room at the Roost. I wonder now, with the defeat of the White Raven himself, what the future holds? Have we won? Is it really over?  What of the Empire? The questions linger... I suppose, I shall continue on the path I have walked these last two years or so.

Moonfire Faire!!!

Dear Friends,

As if a pending Imperial invasion wasn't enough, the bombards from last summer are back and this time they are mad! Luckily, the cascadiers are at it again and prepared to fight the bombs using an exotic dance from far off shores. Naturally, I teamed up with them, donned my brand new yukata and danced my skinny little butt off!

I'm glad to have done my part, but right now I think it's time to kick back at watch some fireworks!

The beginning of the end...

Dear Friends,

Things in Eorzea are escalating fast... weaponized Imperial airships have been seen in the skies over Cortheas. There are rumors of the them farther south as well. It seems the blow the Eorzean alliance struck to Castrum Novum has not gone unnoticed by the Emporer. An all out assault is brewing, I can sense it in the air. I don't think we've had even a taste of what's to come...

The newly unified Grand Company alliance has began organizing military exercises on some of islands south of Limsa Lominsa. Wild beasts and captured monsters are being used as training fodder. I have yet to enroll and participate, but I should. There is some very nice weaponry being rewarded to participants. The Twelve knows I'll need them.

Make no mistake, I am predicting an out and out war with the Garlaen Empire soon... maybe worse. There is no telling what is one the horizon. Dalamud grows ever larger in the sky and there have even been unconfirmed reports of falling debris from the satellite burning up in the skies above.

Friends, if you are the praying sort, now is the time. I fear for our future but will continue to do all I can to help safeguard to people and lands I love.

Bandits of the Shroud

Dear Friends,

I spent a little time recently working for the archer's guild again. Once more I was paired up with Keelty and tasked with trekking to the Owl's Nest in Cortheas to exchange some documents with the Knights of Ishgard.

On the way back, I was ambushed by bandits! I swear I heard one of them mention Keelty's name at the start of the conflict. They gave me little trouble, but I decided to use the power of the Echo to see what exactly was going on...

It seems that this band of brigands is led by a former member of the guild, also a friend of Keelty. She seems to believe there may be some salvation for him, but his actions suggest otherwise... whatever. Who has time for this??? There's a fiery ball in the sky that for all intents and purposes appears to be crashing to our world.... I'M OVER IT!

Montage IX

Dear Friends,

The intensive training continues! With results too, I might add. Yesterday, I returned to the Darkhold with members of my linkshell and we finally put an end to the beast Batraal! Haha!

I've enclosed some pictures of various recent events. Enjoy!

Working for the guilds.

Dear Friends,

My training in the various arts of combat continues. Likewise, my standing with the guilds increases as well. Today, in the last few days I've undertaken tasks from both Thaumaturge's and Gladiator's guilds.

I was asked by the Ossuary to visit Limsa Lominsa in attempt to sell burial rites. This is a big source of money for the Thaumaturges it seems. While there, I managed to rescue a blacksmith from a bit of trouble only to come back empty handed. I did discover quite a bit of hostility from the locals regarding my sales pitch... it seems one of my associates in the guild has been seen pilfering from the dead prior to burying them. How atrocious! I reported this discovery to the guild, but I feel I was dismissed. What a rude lot of people!

Next, the Gladiators sent me to Gridania in search of new competitors. I was directed to see my old friends at the Wood Wailers, and even sparred a bit with J'moldva. Who interestingly enough, turns out to have been a competitor on the blood sands some many moons ago. She expressed no interest in returning however... So again, I had to report back empty handed. Gee! Don't I feel worthless

Mean Little Moogles!

Dear Friends,

What a busy week!!! I guess I will go ahead and start this letter by declaring the obvious. Yeah, Snowi Dawn and I are kind of a thing now. So, you know..... BACK OFF! SHE'S MINE!!  Haha!

Seriously, it is really nice to be able to find a companion in the midst of such danger. It's almost as if we've been together in some other world.... Hmmm.

Anyways, enough of that foofoo kissy crap! Recently, Snowi, Mojo and myself have made some new friends. We've been added to the ranks of a new linkshell. We've made a decision to merge them into one new team. This means I'll be running all over Eorzea this week handing out new pearls to all the members of Kindred Souls. A leader's work is never done!

These new guys were investigating the mysterious disappearance of some moogles from the Twelveswood. We joined forces and found three of the little guys just outside of Thornmarch grove. We learned that the moogles have decided to take up arms against the recent Imperial intrusion into the forest. The moogles have sent a team of their finest warriors into Thornmarch to clash with the empire head on! Thinking we could possibly lend them some aid, we rushed into the grove with the intentions of helping out.

It seems that our assistance was not needed. Can you believe we witnessed a party of moogles, all decked out with arms and armor take down one of those "smokestack" style Imperial airships?!? I give you my word it is the truth! Just as we were about to congratulate the fuzzy little victors, they turned their sights to us! It seems the buggers were REALLY riled up and ready to fight anyone who set foot into their sacred grove. With no real option left but to defend ourselves, we had to engage the moogles.

One by one, we defeated the critters. Just when victory seemed to be at hand, they teamed together and summoned forth their legendary, mysterious leader; Good King Moogle Mog XII!

The battle began anew, this time with their king running the show. In the end, we were victorious, and I am happy to report that it all seemed to be one big misunderstanding but let me tell you, those moogles can pack a wallop!

Victory!

Dear Friends,

Today the newly reformed Eorzean Alliance has stuck a major victory against the oppression of the Empire. After analyzing the information recovered from the airship crash, Cid Garlond learned that Empire has constructed a radio transmitter which is located in their new outpost of Castrum Novum. It is this transmitter that is acting a remote control for Dalamud. It is believed that by destroying it we will be able to sever the influence that the Empire has over the celestial body and prevent catastrophe!

I joined one of many raid teams that was being put together and made way for the rendezvous point just south of the stronghold. Once there, we prepared to storm the outpost. We didn't have time to plan a quiet infiltration, this was going to be an all-out assault.

Once inside, we faced resistance unlike any I've encountered before. There were slews of Imperial troops and enough magitek vehicles to make any adventurer think twice. Eventually, we were able to battle our way to control room only to find the magitek transmitter heavily guarded.

Not only, was the core itself protected by energy field generators, another magitek vanguard stalked the room to fend off intruders. Finally, with a well placed strategy, we were able to knock the generators offline long enough to cause critical damage to the transmitter.

Our immediate celebration was short-lived. From the flames of the control room's destructed emerged none other than Legatus van Darnus.  Indeed, he did rave like a mad man. He claimed that his "new master" did not require the aid of machines. Darnus claimed that with newly recovered magic at his disposal, he alone could control the fall of Dalamud. With that power, he will destroy all of Eorzea's primals and inhabitants, remaking the world as he sees fit.

It hard to tell if there is any truth to his words. But there is no doubt we have struck a decisive blow to the Empire's plans! May this be the first of many victories to come!
